Air fryers can cook a variety of food, and they turn out to be delicious and crispier than deep frying ones. It includes French fries, dumplings, bagels, Brussels, nuggets, etc. Besides, hamburgers and bacon are also cooked with no strenuous effort.
You must wonder whether you can cook eggs in an air fryer or not. If yes, will they crack up or remain intact?
The answer is no! when cooked in an air fryer; the eggs come out tastier, easy to peel, and without cracking. They might crack up while boiling, but the air fryer will erase this drawback too.
Whenever we boil eggs, we need to check them from time to time so that they don’t crack up or get overcooked. When you boil eggs in an air fryer, you just have to set a timer and a predetermined temperature.
No need to keep a consistent check. And your eggs are ready to eat with faster cooling and peeling than the boiled eggs.
In this blog, we’ll discuss air frying eggs and how they differ from boiled eggs. Plus, I’ll share all the information regarding cracking eggs in an air fryer. The prerequisites of using an air fryer will also be shared.
Let’s get to it right away.
How To Air Fry Soft Boiled Eggs?
To air-fry soft-boiled eggs, you need to follow three simple steps:
Step1: Cook eggs for 10 minutes in the air fryer at 260° F | 126° C.
Step 2: Once the eggs are cooked, move the eggs to an ice-water bath using tongs or a slotted spoon. Before peeling, let the eggs cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 3: After the eggs have cooled, peel them, add salt and pepper to taste, and then serve. Leave the shells on if you want to eat the soft-boiled eggs later.
Although I’ve shared some basic steps, now I’ll give you some tips on air frying eggs with perfection!
What Is The Ideal Method For Preparing Hard-Boiled Egg?
To cook a hard-boiled egg ideally, you need to follow a step-by-step procedure:
- Put an egg in some water.
- Heat it to a boil for 20 minutes.
- Then, take the pan off the heat.
You need to cook eggs at 260° F | 126° C in an air fryer for 15 minutes. Air-fried eggs don’t crack easily like eggs that have been boiled.
Let the eggs cool down for ten minutes in an ice bath. You get a perfectly hard-boiled yolk without a green ring in ten minutes.
Can Eggs Be Fried In An Air Fryer?
Yes! You can easily fry eggs in an air fryer.
It seems like anything is now possible with an air fryer or an instant (pressure cooker). Simply place a small aluminum pan within the air fryer’s basket. Cook the eggs at 325 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
Note that each air fryer may vary. Most air fryers take 8 minutes for overly-hard eggs. Try experimenting with the settings and timing if you can find a metal or tempered glass pan that is thin enough and tiny enough to fit in your air fryer.
You could cook eggs in an air fryer, which I suppose cooks similarly to a convection oven using fast rotating hot air.
In my convection oven, I attempted “hard boiling” eggs. Even though they cooked regularly, the shells were essentially cemented to the whites, making them impossible to peel.
Can Eggs Blow Up In An Air Fryer?
No, they’ll be quite fine. It’s just a misconception. Eggs can be fried in the air without the risk of explosion. Just like they can be cooked in the oven.
To stop the whites from leaking out, inspect the eggs to ensure they are intact. Keep an eye on the timing as well; if cooked for too long, they may burn.
The power of your air fryer will also influence the cooking time. Hard-boiled eggs take between 13 and 15 minutes to cook in most 300-watt air fryers. To ensure equal cooking, place the eggs in a single layer, not stack them in the air fryer basket.
The air fryer doesn’t require preheating before use.
Always remember these steps when making eggs in the air fryer.
What Should Be Considered Before Cooking Eggs In An Air Fryer?
I advise you to start with just one or two eggs to ensure the cooking time matches your expectations. Several elements affect this process, and not everyone will have the same ideal timing.
Once you crack them open, observe that they are cooked to your ideal level of doneness. You can use that as a benchmark and proceed to make all your eggs that way.
Take off all the stickers and the air fryer’s packing before using it for the first time. Place it on a solid, heat-resistant surface. Ensure the air fryer is set up far from surfaces and items to guard against steam damage.

What’s The Easiest Method Of Making Soft Boiled Eggs In an Air Fryer?
My go-to method for making soft-boiled eggs in an air fryer is mentioned above. The temperature settings for air fryers vary by brand and model. The size of the eggs also influences the cooking time.
First, experiment a little with the cooking time and temperature with 1 or 2 eggs. You’ll need 4 substantial eggs. Ideally, the temperature needs to be set at138 degrees Celsius (280 degrees Fahrenheit).
Cooking times for soft and medium yolks are 9 to 10 minutes and 10 to 11 minutes, respectively. Use a wire rack as a tool (a trivet). Before peeling, soak in cold water (an ice bath). Since the eggs will be relatively delicate, tap them gently before peeling.
You can store the eggs in the refrigerator for up to two days.

Why Should Your Eggs Take A Cold Water Bath?
You don’t want the eggs to continue cooking after you remove them from the air fryer. As a result, the yolk will be overdone. So you want to reduce the temperature as quickly as feasible.
I don’t put mine in an ice bath because I believe it shocks it and causes the membrane to stay in the egg, making it difficult to peel. Instead, I immerse them immediately in cold water and then change the water several times during cooling to ensure that they are always chilled.
Will the Air Fryer Cause the Eggs to Explode?
It’s not like heating up eggs in the microwave.
Cooking eggs in the air fryer is completely safe. Before placing the eggs in the air fryer basket, make sure they are free of cracks. Cracked eggs are unsafe to eat and will seep out during frying.
Final Thoughts
To conclude, I’d like to say;
- You can easily air fry hard-boiled and soft-boiled eggs. You don’t have to worry about the egg cracking up. It’s a myth that the egg might explode or crack up when air fried.
- Surprisingly, when made in the air fryer, a hard-boiled egg is much softer, easier to peel, and has no cracking fear than being boiled.
- You can make a hard-boiled egg in no time by following some simple steps.
- It’s not just boiled eggs; you can also try out amazing half-fried and full-fried egg recipes in your air fryers. Keep in mind the temperature limits for the type of egg you’re aiming to cook.
