    Table of Contents

Shrimp is a nutrient-dense seafood that may be prepared in different ways. You can find only 60 calories and 12 grams of protein in 3 ounces of raw shrimp.

What could make shrimp better? BACON, of course! Everything tastes better with bacon. Bacon offers a crispy texture and smokey taste that enhances the sweetness of the shrimp.

Sweet Bacon Wrapped Shrimp may be the best air fryer appetizer. They get cooked in a few minutes in the air fryer. Serve with a sauce to balance out the flavor!

Air frying these bacon-wrapped shrimps requires only a few teaspoons of oil to coat the food before cooking. It produces no harmful substances while maintaining the same sensory properties as deep fat frying.

    Ingredients:

    • Shrimp
    • Old obey seasoning
    • Blackened redfish magic
    • Garlic powder
    • Bacon
    • Sweet chili sauce
    • Parsley flakes

    Directions:

Step 1: Combine the old bay seasoning, blackened redfish magic, and garlic powder in a bowl and mix it up well, add shrimp and coat them with this mixture around the shrimp. Slide this to the side and let it chill out.

Step 2: Depending on the size of the shrimp, slice the bacon. As shrimp are not too large, cut them in half. Now take one of the pieces of bacon and wrap it tightly so it can fit all around the shrimp, but once you get that first wrap done make sure you hold your shrimp. When it goes into the air fryer, it will not fold apart, that’s the most important to wrap it tightly.

Step 3: The first batch is ready, so load the air fryer up. Do this in batches because you would not want to overcrowd your pan, so that way air circulation can get through the shrimp and crisp them up.

Step 4: Cook these at 350 for 15 minutes and then check and flip them at about seven minutes.

Afterward, give it about two more minutes before flipping it again to ensure that the bacon is nice and crispy. Put it in the air fryer for another 5 to 6 minutes.

Step 5: Remove shrimp from the air fryer and put them in a large bowl, drizzle sweet chili sauce, and coat all of those shrimp in that sauce. For garnishing, add parsley flakes, some chives, or green onions.

Note: I didn’t need skewers or toothpicks to keep the bacon in place because I put the shrimp in the fryer basket with the bacon end down or under the shrimp to keep it from unraveling.

    Important Suggestions:

    • The larger the shrimp, the thicker the cut of bacon you can use.
    • It is easy to use cold bacon when wrapping the shrimp, but slightly warmer bacon can be wrapped tighter.
    • Refrigerate the bacon-wrapped shrimp before frying them in the air fryer. This keeps the bacon wrapped and prevents it from overcooking.
    • Eight minutes was the perfect amount of crispness, but you can add 1 or 2 minutes if you prefer it even crisper.
    • Preheat the air fryer to sear the bacon before adding the shrimp to the fry basket, which assists in avoiding it from sticking.

Why the simple bacon-wrapped shrimp is awesome?

    • Only three ingredients!
    • It takes only 15 minutes to prepare.
    • Incredibly simple to make, yet so tasty.
    • Fantastic for entertaining!
    • They are crispy because they are made in the air fryer.

Why is your food not getting crispy in the air fryer?

If you find that the food made in the air fryer is not crispy enough, follow the steps below:

    • Dry the exterior of the food properly before adding the oil.
    • Do not use too much oil, because this will make food less crispy and greasy.
    • Meat or poultry may be lightly brushed with oil or marinated for crispier results.
    • Add a few more minutes if the food is not crunchy enough.
    • Don’t cook too many snacks or too much food at once.

Does bacon have any health benefits?

You may think of bacon as a fatty, oily food, yet eating bacon in moderation has certain health benefits. Bacon’s high salt and potassium content may help restore electrolytes lost due to dehydration and alleviate some hangover symptoms.

Combining a small amount of bacon with healthy veggies and other nutritious foods will help you use bacon to enhance flavors and obtain a little more fat and sodium in your diet without overdoing it.

Can I use any type of bacon in this recipe?

If the shrimp are smaller, it is preferable to use ordinary “cut” bacon instead of thick-cut bacon for this simple bacon-wrapped shrimp recipe.

Smithfield’s bacon had a nice crispness to it and appears to be somewhat thinner in comparison to the other brands.

How to tell when bacon is cooked?

When the meat has turned from pink to brown and the fat has rendered, bacon is considered completely cooked. It’s alright to take the slices out while they’re still a little chewy, but bacon is normally served crisp.

    • Cook the bacon on each side for 4-5 minutes for a well-cooked piece (not too rubbery or too crispy).
    • Cook for 2-3 minutes per side for a rubbery piece of bacon.
    • Cook for 5-6 minutes per side for crispy bacon. Repeat until all of the bacon is cooked.

Can frozen shrimp go in an air fryer?

Yes, just increase the cooking time to ensure the shrimp are well-cooked. Shrimp must have a pink exterior and be completely opaque inside.

Frozen shrimp takes five minutes, raw shrimp takes ten, and breaded shrimp takes ten. If your frozen shrimp was stored in a chest freezer, add 2-4 minutes to the cooking time.

What are the most suitable appetizers that go with shrimp?

Bacon offers a crispy texture and Smokey taste that enhances the sweetness of the shrimp.

I usually serve these as an appetizer or any other appetizer would work well with these shrimp: Easy Teriyaki Meatballs, Buffalo Chicken Pinwheels, cheese straws, mango habanero salad, hushpuppies, and tortilla chips.

For healthy choices, you can serve it with lumpia, steak bites, honey brie crostini, Panzanella salad, pineapple salsa, and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus.

What is the best size of shrimp?

Shrimp come in a variety of sizes, so be sure to choose the right one for your recipe when making this air fryer recipe for bacon-wrapped shrimp.

Utilize smaller shrimp and thinner bacon to prevent overcooking the shrimp before it becomes crispy. The bacon will burn before the shrimp is fully cooked if the shrimp are too large and the bacon is too thin.

    Tips and Suggestion

Following are a few tips and suggestions for making the perfect bacon-wrapped shrimp.

    • Start wrapping the shrimp at the tail and overlap your first piece of bacon to help keep it in place.
    • Wrap the bacon around the shrimp with as little overlap as possible until it reaches the top of the shrimp.
    • Overcrowding the basket will result in the bacon not becoming properly crispy. In two batches, I was able to cook a pound of large shrimp.
    • For optimal flavor, coat the shrimp with additional glaze after flipping them.
