Making regular brownies into a frightening treat with Air Fryer Mummy Brownies is an incredible idea. One of my favorite recipe themes is these sweet brownies.
The air fryer has become my go-to appliance, whether I use it to prepare my favorite meal or figure out how to cook items with only a few ingredients. Although you can create these brownie mummies from scratch, I used a brownie box mix to keep the recipe as straightforward as possible.
To make my mummies as dark as possible and to make fudgy brownies, I used a Dark Chocolate Ghirardelli brownie recipe. Of course, no mummy would be completed without candy eyes, frosting, and white chocolate strips that have been melted for the wrapping.
Ingredients You Need for This Recipe
The air fryer I use to prepare these brownies is a Cosori 5. Because I had to use a pan that fits in my air fryer, I did divide the box mix into two batches.
You can make it in one batch, though, if your pan fits in your large air fryer. If you use one full pan, cooking times could be longer.
You just need a few basic materials to prepare these brownies, besides an air fryer:
- Brownie Mix
- Eggs
- Water
- Oil
- Candy Eyeballs
- For the mummy wrap, use white frosting, white chocolate chips, or chocolate candy melts.
How to Make Air Fryer Brownie Mummies
Prepare the brownie mix as directed on the box in a sizable mixing basin. For me, it required only the addition of water, eggs, and vegetable oil.
Apply a thin layer of butter, vegetable oil, or nonstick cooking spray to the bottom of the baking dish to prepare it. Additionally, lining the pan with parchment paper will make it much simpler to remove the brownies from the pan.
Pour the brownie batter into a baking dish after thoroughly combining the ingredients. Air fry for 10–12 minutes at 370°.
Depending on the size and wattage of your air fryer, the baking time for brownies may vary. Allow the brownies to cool when they have finished baking.
Then, slice the brownies into tiny rectangles that measure 2 by 3 inches.
Place the brownies on a plate or piece of parchment paper, and then pour the melted white chocolate over them to create a mummy-like effect. You have space for the candy eyeballs, make sure to leave space at one end of the brownie.
Additionally, icing can be used to create a crisscross design on the brownies. To keep this recipe easy, I bought pre-made frosting instead of keeping enough confectioners’ sugar on hand to make my own.
Variations You Can Make in This Recipe
Here’re some variations for you that you can do to make this recipe according to your needs:
Gluten-Free | Use a pre-made gluten-free brownie mix to convert these delicious mommy brownies to gluten-free baking. |
Vegan | Replace the eggs with apple sauce and the butter with vegetable oil. You can substitute 1/4 cup of apple sauce for the 2 eggs that are typically called for in store-bought brownie boxes. |
Tips and Tricks
This recipe can easily be changed to vegan or gluten-free. Both of the details are provided in the previous post.
Brownies made from a store-bought mix, homemade brownies, or even store-bought brownies all work wonderfully with this recipe. This recipe’s brownies can be prepared a day or two in advance.
All components should be at room temperature for the best results. Before mixing, I take the cream cheese and butter out of the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Depending on the season and temperature, this period may change. Before piping the icing onto the brownies, let them sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. This aids in helping it somewhat tighten up and keep its shape better.
Is It Necessary To Use A Specific Brand Of Box Brownies?
I enjoy experimenting with several types of standard brownie mixes. You may make chewy brownies or peanut butter brownies.
The only problem is that box mix brownies are never as good as completely handmade brownies. You can always tell when a brownie is made from a box rather than from scratch.
What Are Your Other Mummy Wrap Making Options?
In addition to the many frosting tastes, you can make your drizzled mummy wrap with milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or melting cherry chips.
Air Fryer Mummy Brownies are an easy way to transform regular brownies into a creepy but entertaining Halloween dessert.
You may also make the Crisscross pattern on the brownies with frosting. I typically keep enough confectioners sugar on hand to create my frosting, but I bought pre-made frosting for this recipe to keep things simple.
Is Air Frying Healthy?
Chips cooked in an air fryer absorb substantially less oil and have less calories when compared to chips cooked in a deep fat fryer on an equivalent basis.
Therefore, if you switch to air frying from deep frying, you’ll undoubtedly be making a healthy improvement to your diet by significantly lowering the quantity of fat you eat.
However, the majority of air fryers still call for the addition of oil to foods, which isn’t always the healthiest way to prepare food. For instance, air-fried broccoli has more calories than steamed broccoli, which is cooked without the use of oil.
Air-fried foods should consequently be a part of a balanced diet.
Is Air Fryer Better Than Oven?
Similar to a fan oven, air fryers employ convection heat, but they differ in several important ways.
The biggest distinction is size; because air fryers are countertop appliances, they have a smaller capacity than conventional ovens. They can cook food considerably more quickly than a regular oven and frequently more evenly thanks to their small size, intense heat source, and fan.
Furthermore, many air fryers need little to no preheating time, which makes them a practical option to expedite supper preparation, especially for busy families. The greatest air fryers, however, can cook various meals in half the time, which is arguably their biggest advantage over conventional fryers.
Except for wet battered meals, which can drip through the air fryer basket’s openings, most foods that you would typically cook in a deep-fat fryer or oven can be cooked in an air fryer. In an air fryer, vegetables cook to perfection and have a light, crisp texture.
With some models having two cooking compartments, you can cook your meat and vegetables at the same time without them touching.
A dehydrate feature is also available on several models, so you may experiment with drying fruit for delectable snacks and breakfast toppings.
Conclusion
- The ideal Halloween or party treat is a batch of these Mummy Brownies! Chewy brownies with white chocolate drizzle and gummy eyes make for a sweet and frightening dessert.
